Warts are skin growths. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), of which there are more than 60 kinds, and some of these kinds end up causing warts on the skin. What HPV does is stimulate quick growth of cells on the skin’s outer layer, so in most cases, you’ll find warts commonly appear on the fingers, near the fingernails, or on the hands.
